Indian Air Force Plane Crash in Assam Kills Five Personnel

(MENAFN) Five members of the Indian Air Force lost their lives after an An-32 transport aircraft crashed in the northeastern state of Assam, officials confirmed on Saturday.

According to official statements, the aircraft was involved in an accident while carrying out a routine flight operation in the Jorhat area of Assam.

The air force said that “aircraft met with an accident” during the sortie and noted that emergency teams were managing the crash site while preliminary investigations were underway.

“Crash site management and initial enquiries are on at this time,” it said.

Authorities have launched a formal investigation into the incident, with the Indian Air Force confirming that a court of inquiry has been established to determine the circumstances and cause of the crash.
