5 Indian Air Force Personnel Killed in Plane Crash

(MENAFN) Five Indian Air Force personnel were killed Saturday when an An-32 transport aircraft went down during a routine sortie in the northeastern state of Assam, officials confirmed.

The Indian Air Force said the "aircraft met with an accident" in the Jorhat region of Assam, without immediately disclosing the cause of the crash.

"Crash site management and initial enquiries are on at this time," the air force said in a post on X, the US social media company.

A court of inquiry has been formally constituted to investigate the circumstances that led to the accident, the air force added.
